The history of the monastery began in 1994 thanks to the bishop, now Metropolitan Prokl of Simbirsk and Novospassky. After his appointment in Ulyanovsk, he studied the diocese and noticed a large stone church standing on the outskirts of the village of Komarovka on the way to Undory. The bishop saw a hill there that reminded him of the Pyukhtitsa hill and decided to establish a women's monastery.

Special attention should be given to the church in honor of the Archangel Michael. According to Vladimir Efimov, the head of the Undorov Local History Museum, the church was laid in 1895 and consecrated on November 8, 1917. It managed to hold only one service before being closed by the new authorities, never being painted inside. The church, built in the Russian-Byzantine style, is distinguished by its elegance and resembles a ship in the desert. Like many others, it was closed in 1939.

In June 1995, the bishop appointed nun Marina Mitropolskaya, now abbess Magdalina, first as the builder and then as the acting head of the future monastery. From that moment, active construction of the monastery in honor of the Archangel Michael began. The first small house was erected in 4 months from an old log cabin for overnight stays on the monastery grounds. The monastery now includes eleven residential buildings, including a large well-equipped hotel for pilgrims.

The monastery is located on a hill and is surrounded by a ravine on three sides, while numerous springs feed the monastery pond. An elegant bathing house in honor of the Archangel Michael has been built over one of the springs, where people immerse themselves for healing.
