In the small town of Bela Crkva, the memorial cadet room is supported only by an elderly descendant of white emigrants, Vladimir Kastelyanov. In the past, Russian speech was often heard here, as several thousand Russians who left the Russian Empire lived in the city. In Bela Crkva, one can still see buildings that once housed educational institutions of Tsarist Russia, evacuated to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes after the 1917 revolution. The Nikolaev Cavalry School from Petrograd and the Mariinsky Don Institute for Noble Maidens from Novocherkassk were located here. In 1925, the Museum of the Russian Cadet Corps opened in Bela Crkva, featuring over 4,000 exhibits from former military schools of the Empire. Russian white emigrants faced another tragedy in the 1940s when war came to Serbian soil, scattering the descendants of cadets and military personnel around the world. Despite the complete lack of official support, the room has been preserved.
