The mill of Cossack Bulanov in Azov is one of the local attractions and was built in the early 20th century. Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, the mill on Gymnaziyskaya Street (now Mira Street) is first mentioned in 1912 as the property of N.N. Bulanov, which allows us to assert that it was built no later than that year.

After the Bolsheviks came to the Don, the building was confiscated, and the further fate of the owner remains unknown; he may have emigrated or been killed during the Red Terror. Since 1925, the building was used to house a steam engine, and a one-story building was constructed on its territory, which now serves as the electrical workshop. During World War II, the mill was partially destroyed, but it was restored in 1952. The modern mill complex includes structures built between 1950 and 1980. The main element of the complex is a three-story brick building of the mill with a basement and a multi-pitched roof, located at the intersection of Mira and Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Streets. A later two-story brick building adjoins the western facade, and a one-story machine hall building, which now serves as the electrical workshop, adjoins the northern facade. A second floor was later added to part of this building.

Despite significant destruction and subsequent restoration work, the building remains an interesting example of industrial architecture from the early 20th century. Its facades are designed in the style of rationalist eclecticism, characteristic of brick style.

After nearly 70 years since the restoration, the building has fallen into disrepair. In 2018, after lengthy bureaucratic procedures, permission was obtained for repair work, and restoration of the Bulanov mill is currently underway. Layers of paint have already been removed from the facades, and after the work is completed, it is planned to open a shopping and entertainment center in the building.
