The village of Kyshtovka is the administrative center of the Novosibirsk region. The first mentions of it date back to 1730 and are found in the chronicles of the Priirtysh Tatars. The Kyshtovka Local History Museum is located in an old building that previously served as a merchant's shop owned by merchant Fyodor Afinogenovich Shcheglov. The museum opened in 1990. To this day, the wrought iron grilles on the windows, shutters with metal overlays, and iron downspouts with ornate catchment basins have been preserved.

The museum houses a significant archaeological and paleontological collection, old maps of the area, and photographs of the village from past years. Here, you can find items of peasant life, such as dishes, household utensils, and tools, as well as homemade clothing made from linen and wool worn by local peasants. The exhibition also features items from the lives of settlers, a Belarusian national costume, Ukrainian musical instruments, and much more. The museum also contains exhibits dedicated to the Civil and Patriotic Wars. In total, the museum has 1,922 items in its main collection and 241 items in its scientific auxiliary collection, which are displayed in three exhibition halls and a storage area.
