The history of the Sokolskoe region is unique and original, thus it deserves study and preservation. In accordance with the resolution of the RK CPSU dated July 18, 1971, a local history museum was opened in the village of Sokolskoe. It was headed by the director of the library, Anna Fedorovna Rodina. Initially, the museum's collections were housed in a two-story building on Naberezhnaya Street, but unfortunately, a fire destroyed almost all the exhibits. In 1995, the revival of the museum began, which was located in a wooden house on Rabochaya Street, built in the early 20th century. Among the first exhibitions were: 'The Archaeological Past of Our Region', 'The Animal World of Our Region', 'The Great Patriotic War and Our Region', 'Sokolskoe Shipyard'. In 2002, the museum was granted the status of 'people's' for its active work in studying and preserving historical heritage, as well as for reviving the spiritual and cultural traditions of the area. In 2003 and 2004, the museum won the regional competition for the best museum exhibition twice. At the end of 2017, a new branch of the Sokolskoe People's Local History Museum opened on Zarechnaya Street. Currently, the main collection of the museum includes 1985 exhibits, while the scientific auxiliary collection has 1958. The museum features exhibits on ethnography, archaeology, paleontology, as well as manuscripts and old printed books, photo collections. Regular exhibitions, thematic meetings, excursions, classes, and consultations are held here. The museum is visited by more than three thousand people annually.
