The history and nature of the Perm region are of great interest. To study and showcase the collected materials, the city council established the Kungur Local History Museum in 1909, which opened two years later. The first exhibition was dedicated to the memory of K. T. Khlebnikov, a merchant and traveler who explored the local karst caves. Since 2006, the Kungur Historical, Architectural, and Art Museum-Reserve has been operating, uniting the Local History, Merchant History, and Art Museums, as well as a scientific library.

Eight exhibitions are housed in a two-story building from the 18th century on the banks of the Sylva River. The hall of archaeological finds contains items from excavations of ancient villages and camps, detailing the campaigns of Yermak, the founding of Kungur, and the defense against Pugachev's forces. Of particular interest is the 'sacred stone,' which allegedly has a map engraved on it showing the locations of treasures. Nearby are household items and vibrant Russian, Tatar, and Mari folk costumes. In the religion section, rare artifacts can be seen, including a wooden sculpture of the crucified Christ and bronze icons.

At the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, Kungur thrived due to the development of leather and faience production. The museum showcases the interiors of workshops and living quarters from that time, tools, and everyday items. The pride of the collection is a 122-mm howitzer from World War I. The exhibition of the Soviet period of the 1920s-30s features posters and placards, photographs, and documents about repressions and the history of the pioneer organization.

During the Great Patriotic War, a large shoe production facility was established in the rear Kungur. One of the exhibits, a stitching machine, is worn out from countless soles of army boots and leather boots.

Two halls are dedicated to the nature of the Kungur region. An 18th-century engraving with a plan and cross-section of the underground labyrinth and a diorama of the Ice Cave grotto are breathtaking. Beautifully crafted taxidermy of animals and birds looks lifelike.
