The Komis-Permyak Regional Museum named after P. I. Subbotin-Permyak, a state regional cultural institution, holds an important place among the cultural and regional centers of the Komis-Permyak District. It is engaged in the collection, preservation, and popularization of the unique culture of the Komis-Permyak people. The museum was organized by representatives of the local intelligentsia, party activist F. P. Tarakanov, and artist P. I. Subbotin, whose name the museum has borne since 1945.

The museum opened on July 30, 1921. Its collection includes over 80,000 exhibits. Among them are notable items of the Perm animal style, Sasanian silver, wooden cult sculptures from the late 19th century, miniatures by architect A. N. Voronikhin, paintings by avant-gardist P. I. Subbotin-Permyak and serf artist A. K. Krivoshchekov, printed boards and woven belts from the 19th-20th centuries, samples of cast iron from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, as well as archives of geographer-local historian I. Ya. Krivoshchekov and Hero of the Soviet Union N. I. Kuznetsov. Exhibitions such as "The Komis-Permyak Land from Ancient Times" (2008), "Nature of the Region" (2010) with the multimedia zone "Secrets of Lake Adovo" (2013), children's exhibition "Tales of Ancient Parma" (2011), and "P. I. Subbotin-Permyak. Art Gives Vitality and Joy" (2014) tell about the natural wealth, history, and culture of the Komis-Permyak people.

The museum is visited by over 50,000 people annually, hosting up to 500 excursions, lectures, and classes. It features more than 10 stationary and traveling exhibitions, as well as a children's museum center "Gazha Lud" and "Cheerful Glade." The museum organizes scientific conferences, publishes catalogs, and since 1964 has released the scientific and regional collection "Our Land."

The museum has been awarded prizes from the Perm Krai and Komis-Permyak District in the field of culture and art in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013, as well as an award from the "Intermuseum" festival in 2008. Since the 1990s, the museum has actively promoted the heritage of P. I. Subbotin-Permyak. His biography and work are widely represented in exhibitions, became the basis for the play "I Will Not Tire of Being Alive," and have been published in the form of a brochure and catalog. Exhibitions dedicated to the artist have been held in Kudymkar, Perm, and Moscow.
