Bell Tower of the Resurrection Feodorovsky Monastery in Sergeyevo

Фото 1
The bell tower is a relatively small three-tiered structure, built in the Russian-Byzantine style. It is made of brick and covered with cement plaster. The first tier, shaped like a square, features a high arch of the Holy Gates and is topped with a sloped roof with half-domes at the gable, as well as a wide arcature-columned frieze with niches of false windows. The facades are designed with light risalits and massive buttresses at the corners. The portals of the gates on both sides and similar window frames on the side facades are united by belts at the level of the imposts. The arches of the octagonal ringing tier, located on a solid pedestal, are now bricked up and oriented towards the cardinal directions, alternating with false openings on the diagonal faces. The supports of this tier are adorned with paired columns that support wide profiled archivolts of the arches. This same decorative motif is repeated in the third tier, which rises above the high, tiled, faceted dome of the resonator drum of the onion-shaped cupola. The passage of the Holy Gates is covered with a cross vault.
