The restoration of the monastery began in 1992, and to date, the main works have been completed: both churches and the belfry have been opened. However, plans for the development of the monastery do not end here. The central part of the monastery is the passage belfry. The first belfry was built in 1848, but in 1926, a commission decided to remove the spire due to the threat of collapse. In the 1930s, the belfry was completely destroyed, and a railway school was built in its place, which later became Secondary School No. 32. When the question of restoring the belfry arose, there was a problem with the construction site, as the school continued to operate, educating about 600 students. The new belfry was decided to be placed to the left and in front of the school, in the western part of the monastery opposite the John the Baptist Church.
Not only the location changed, but also the appearance of the belfry. Due to the dense development around the Kazan Monastery, it was decided to make the new belfry twice as high as the previous one. Construction began in 2009 and was completed in 2011. The spire was installed using a helicopter. The height of the new belfry is 106 meters, making it the third tallest in Russia after the belfries of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg and the Transfiguration Cathedral in Rybinsk. In 2012, 14 bells were cast in Voronezh, which were connected to a clock visible from four sides. With the completion of the belfry, the monastery received a central grand entrance. At night, all the belfries of Tambov are brightly illuminated.
On August 30, 2014, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus' consecrated the new monastery belfry.
