The Kazan Men's Monastery, located in the village of Kuznetsovo, is the only one in the Shuya district and has no historical predecessors. The village, known as "by the wells," is situated seven versts from Shuya. In the past, it belonged to the Shuya voivode Daniil Semyonovich Zmeyev. In the 1630s, a wooden single-domed church was founded here in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God. In 1811, a stone five-domed Assumption church with an altar in honor of Saint Nicholas and a tent-like bell tower was built on the site of the old wooden church. In 1775, a stone church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was erected next to the Assumption church. The parish included 240 households with approximately 2000 parishioners. Since 1886, a church-parish school operated in the village. Among the relics, the Jerusalem Icon of the Mother of God was especially venerated.

The Assumption church did not close during the Soviet era and avoided destruction. Services were interrupted only during the war years. After the revolution, Archpriest Feodor Lebedev served in Kuznetsovo; he was executed in 1937 and recognized as a new martyr. In 1961, the Kazan church was partially destroyed and repurposed as a grain storage facility.

After restoration, the Assumption church was consecrated on April 20, 1991, by Archbishop Ambrose. In the 1990s, a monastic community emerged at the church, and in 1998, by decree of the Holy Synod, a new Assumption-Kazan Men's Monastery of the Shuya district was registered in the village of Kuznetsovo. In December 2011, with the blessing of Bishop Joseph, the monastery was renamed the "Kazan Men's Monastery." Construction and restoration work is ongoing, and a brotherhood building has been constructed. The monastery is associated with two dependencies: the Church of the Prophet Elijah in Shuya and the Archangel's Monastery dependency in the village of Krasnoarmeyskoye. The Kazan Monastery also supports a women's monastic community in the village of Bolshie Dvorishki.
