The most famous work of the Kasli masters is the pavilion created for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. It introduced Kasli casting to the European public and brought it fame.

The history of the pavilion is no less fascinating: over more than a hundred years, it has experienced triumph, threats of destruction, oblivion, and then miraculous rescue and restoration.

Looking at the patterns and decorations of the pavilion, it is hard to believe that all of this is made from such a rough material as cast iron.

The pavilion consists of more than one and a half thousand unique cast iron details and sculptural compositions, weighing about 20 tons.

In the bas-reliefs, one can see ancient Slavic, Scandinavian, and Byzantine motifs and images: dragons, bird-women, magical flowers, exotic fish, and beasts, which are harmoniously combined into a whole.

The project of the pavilion was developed by the talented St. Petersburg architect Evgeny Baumgarten. Maria Dillon, the first professional female sculptor in Russia, joined the project. The best Kasli masters brought the project to life.

The process of creating the masterpiece took almost a year. The work was meticulous: first, drawings were transferred to wood and processed, then bronze molds were created based on wooden models, which were carefully stamped, and cast iron was poured into them. The finishing touches were applied by the engravers.

At the exhibition, the Kasli pavilion caused a sensation. Visitors were delighted by the airy elegance of the pavilion and the exquisite products inside. The location of the pavilion was extremely fortunate; it was visible from everywhere, and light penetrated through the delicate openings in the design.

The talent of the Kasli masters was highly appreciated: the pavilion received the highest award in the 'Metal Products' category, the crystal Grand Prix, and a large gold medal. It was a true triumph of Kasli casting.

After the revolution, in 1921, the director of the Kasli factory, N. F. Zakharov, ordered the unique work of art to be melted down for the production of serial products. However, the Kasli masters did not allow the masterpiece to be completely destroyed, and the surviving details were sent to Yekaterinburg.
