Фото 1
The Holy Ascension Church was built between 1905 and 1909 in the Russian-Byzantine style, characteristic of church architecture from the late 19th to early 20th century. It is a five-domed church with a large central dome and a layout in the shape of an elongated cross. Above the western narthex rises a three-tiered bell tower.

In 1904, at a meeting of the settlement, it was decided to build a stone church instead of the old one, allocating 10,000 rubles from public funds for this purpose. After the project and estimate were approved in 1905, the contractor became Mr. Grechkin, a local builder and farmer. For the construction of the new church, the wooden bell tower was moved onto piles. The project of the stone church was developed by architect Vasiliev, and the interior walls were painted by artist Sarakhtin.

By the spring of 1909, the construction of the Ascension Church was completed, and on May 6, 1909, it was consecrated by Bishop Dmitry of Sukhum.

After the October Revolution, the Holy Ascension Church was repeatedly closed and reopened. In 1952, the building became municipal property. In 1964, 1976, and 1982, the city executive committee made decisions regarding its restoration and use for cultural and educational purposes. Since 1984, the building was transferred to the historical and local lore museum for an archaeological exhibition, and restoration work began, the project of which was carried out by Krasnodar architects. In 1990, the church was returned to the Orthodox community, and its exterior was completely restored.

The parish Holy Ascension Church has two altars. The main altar was first consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Lord in 1909, and for the second time on May 23, 1993. The side altar is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos.
