The house belongs to the complex type of two-row peasant buildings, characteristic of the Kostroma region, and stands out with its ornate carved decor. Here, traditional motifs of folk architecture are combined with elements of urban Baroque and Classicism. In 1972, the house was moved from the village of Vashkino in the Chkalov district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, previously part of the Yuryevets district of Kostroma province. By this time, the yard had already been destroyed. Restoration took place according to the project of architect V.S. Shaposhnikov from 1973 to 1977.

The house, hewn "in the oblo" and rectangular in plan, is covered with a gable roof made of planks, featuring a ridge, hens, and streams. The gables of the end facades are clad in planks. Inside, there are two four-walled rooms along the longitudinal axis: the winter izba at the front and the cold shed at the back, with a hallway in between. On one side, the hallway and shed are enclosed by a lower yard with a separate gable roof connecting to the bathhouse. The picturesque composition is emphasized by a hanging porch in front of the entrance to the hallway on the opposite side facade. The main facade of the izba is symmetrical: a vertical rectangular window in the center and two horizontal ones on the sides. The central window is framed with a lintel made of wide boards, decorated with carvings of plant motifs. The shapes of the lintel and the sandrik are borrowed from Classicism. The lintels of the side windows with semicircular aprons and triangular sandriks resemble Baroque. The windows of the shed are framed with strict lintels with profiled sandriks. The eaves and towel on the main facade are adorned with applied carvings. The eaves under the roof overhangs are covered with triangular carvings. The yard on the main facade features double-leaf arched gates. Inside, the interior of a typical peasant house has been recreated.

In the winter izba, there is a brick stove with clay plaster, next to it is a golbets with a staircase to the cellar and a bench board. Benches are built along the walls, and above the entrance are lofts. In the red corner, there is a shrine. In the corner of the hallway, a single-flight staircase leads to the attic. In the living room, space is allocated for a dark pantry. The main elements of the bathhouse's furnishings have been restored.
