The Italian house was built between 1754 and 1755 under the guidance of architect Y.I. Kologrivov, who was educated in Rome and is known as a fine connoisseur of art.

This compact two-story building is located by a small pond. The architecture of the house reflects features characteristic of the 'Italian villa' and is executed in a classical style. The house is adorned with restrained decorative elements painted in soft tones.

Each floor has high window openings, ornate railings on the loggia and balcony, as well as cornices with balustrades. The interiors of the second floor are distinguished by a palace style.

The square windows on the first floor are significantly smaller and are intended for displaying 'rarities': rare bead and colored marble paintings, models of the Jerusalem and Bethlehem churches in glass cases, antique sculptures, and other exhibits.

The Italian house is located next to the Grotto building and is open for visitors to the Kuskovo estate.
