Dacha Bashenina, a monument of federal significance, was built in the early 20th century for the mayor of Sarapul, philanthropist Pavel Andreyevich Bashenin. The estate was inherited by his younger brother Peter, who lived here with his family until 1917.

Located in the forested area of Sarapul, the dacha symbolized a new era over 100 years ago, and today it retains its significance. The building was constructed in 1909 according to the design of a young Moscow architect, Pavel Trubnikov, in the Art Nouveau style, utilizing new technologies: reinforced concrete structures, electricity, and plumbing. The monument's uniqueness lies in the fact that the stone building successfully imitates the wooden dacha architecture of the capital's suburbs, including stylized Gothic motifs, various balconies, verandas, bay windows, and a high roof with a carved ridge, giving each element a distinct character.

After 1917, the building was nationalized and used as a sanatorium for orphans, the Votka Commissariat, and a surgical department of the city hospital. From 1926, it housed a tuberculosis dispensary, later becoming 'Children's Republican Sanatorium No. 1'. In the late 1980s, the sanatorium relocated, and the estate was left abandoned.

In 1991, the building and surrounding area were transferred to the Museum of History and Culture of Middle Prikamye. Restoration work on the monument took four years, and in the autumn of 1995, the art and exhibition complex was opened.

The estate's grounds have preserved outbuildings, a stable-garage, cobblestone paths, a coniferous park, and relic plants. Dacha Bashenina offers guided tours, interactive activities, city celebrations, theatrical performances, wedding ceremonies, and artist plein airs. A ramp has been built for the convenience of people with disabilities. In the southern part of the estate, a natural forest has been preserved, where rare trees such as cedar and larch have been identified.

Today, Dacha Bashenina is a hallmark of the city on the Kama River and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sarapul. It invites residents and visitors to learn about the history of the house and its inhabitants. The architectural monument showcases works of art and household items from past eras from the collections of the Sarapul Museum-Reserve, carefully preserving the memory of a time considered the true flourishing of Sarapul and the people whose efforts made it possible.
