The Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the oldest churches in Kursk. It was built in the early 17th century but was soon destroyed by the Crimean Tatars. In 1761, a new stone Presentation Church with a bell tower and fence was erected with funds from the parishioners. Before the revolution, the parish had over seven thousand believers, and dozens of children were educated in the church school. The interior decoration of the church was distinguished by its richness and elegance.

With the establishment of Soviet power, the church was closed. A store was placed in the altar area, and the building housed a market for agricultural products. All church valuables were lost, and the bell tower was destroyed.

With the onset of the Great Patriotic War, the church was unexpectedly reopened for services by the authorities. During bombings, it served as a shelter for residents. Since then, the church remains an active temple. In the mid-1970s, the authorities attempted to demolish it, but the parishioners managed to defend the shrine. The church building was recognized as an architectural monument. Today, the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary has two additional chapels besides the main one.
