The church was built in 1783 under the guidance of builder Serapion and consecrated by His Grace Damaskin. Special attention is drawn to the paintings of the Last Judgment and All Saints, created with oil paints and occupying the entire western wall. Pilgrims could ascend to the church, located above the Holy Gates, via a stone staircase and enjoy a view of the entire monastery.

The monastery library with an archive was located in a special room under the bell tower of the cathedral, on the second floor, and contained 570 volumes of service and edifying literature, both old and new editions. Printed books from the 17th century were few in number, not exceeding a hundred. The library also housed about a hundred very old books without title pages, making it difficult to determine their year of publication. More than three hundred books belonged to the 18th century, while the rest were from the 19th century. Among the service literature, the Great Trebnik of Metropolitan Peter (Mogila) stood out, according to which services were conducted. The library had many books of a spiritually edifying nature. Manuscripts were also kept, including handwritten books by Elder Athanasius (Zakharov) and Elder Paisius (Velichkovsky), which were later transferred to the Oryol Historical and Archaeological Society, as well as "The Cell Notes of His Grace Jeremiah, a native of the Sevsk district, who died and was buried in Nizhny Novgorod." Current documents and affairs of the monastery, neatly sorted by year, were stored in the archive on shelves in separate bundles.
