To the east of the city center rises a five-domed church with an elegant bell tower. The main volume of the temple, executed in the traditional two-light style, was altered by a later extension. However, the corner columns, whimsical window frames in the style of Moscow ornamentation, and multi-tiered cornices give the building a special beauty.

Until the 18th century, the church of the holy princes-martyrs Boris and Gleb was wooden. In 1610, it suffered from the invasion of Poles and Lithuanians. Documents from 1613 mention that the temple burned down. In 1621, the church was wooden, with an altar in honor of the miracle worker Pafnutiy. Around it was the Myakyshevskaya sloboda. In 1685, there were 29 households and 117 residents in the sloboda. That same year, the church burned down again, leaving only the bell tower. The residents began to build a new wooden church and an underground warm chapel in honor of Pafnutiy of Borovsk.

In 1704, a stone church was built with the funds of parishioners, which has survived to this day. A warm altar was arranged in the refectory in the name of the venerable Pafnutiy. The main volume of the temple is a two-light pillarless square topped with five domes. The bell tower in the classical style was built in 1819.

There is a legend that in 1812, the church suffered from the French, who turned it into a stable. One of the locals, an old man named Tit, took the blame for the theft of a horse and was drowned in a pond that was later named Tit's. However, the rector of the church, Alexiy Yakovlev, stated in an official report that there were no significant incidents.

In the 19th century, the parish of the Church of Boris and Gleb was small and poor. In 1867, there were 242 households in the parish, but many residents were Old Believers. The clergy consisted of a priest, a deacon, and a church clerk, but due to poverty, it was decided to keep only the priest and one clerk. In 1867, Vasiliy Andreevich Zlatooustovsky became the priest.

On the night of June 21, 1889, a fire occurred in the church, damaging the domes and roof. However, thanks to donations and the efforts of the committee, the church was restored. By 1891, the Kaluga bishop Vitaliy thanked everyone who participated in the restoration of the church.

During the Soviet era and the German occupation, the Boris and Gleb church was closed and fell into disrepair. Restoration began in 1985, and in 1991, services were resumed.
