The Church of St. Barbara the Great Martyr in Krefeld, Germany, belongs to the Berlin and German Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. Since 2016, the Orthodox parish has been located in the building of the former Catholic Church of St. Francis of Assisi, which was built in 1959-1960.

The first church in honor of Francis of Assisi was erected on Wilandstraße in Krefeld in 1927, taking one year to build and accommodating 750 people. However, on June 22, 1943, the church was destroyed during World War II. A new church was built in 1948 but soon became cramped for parishioners. In 1959, construction of the current building began, completed in 1960, and it was consecrated on November 27 of the same year.

Architect Stefan Loyer from Cologne designed the church with a cross-shaped foundation, characteristic of Eastern churches. Four circles intersect, forming a cloverleaf shape, which provides unique acoustics. The building is adorned with 226 square colored windows, creating unusual lighting.

The church has been renovated twice, in 1976 and 1990, and has seating for 200 people. The bell tower is located separately, as is often the case in the East. Five bronze bells with pendulums to compensate for vibration are tuned to the notes D, F, G, A, and B-flat, the largest weighing 1.75 tons.
