The Holy Trinity Cathedral, the central church of the Rovenki deanery, was built in 1885 and is an architectural monument. The Voronezh provincial news reported in 1885 that the church in the settlement of Rovenki, Ostrogozhsky district, was made of stone, with a bell tower and five domes, featuring altars dedicated to Barbara and Mitrophan. In 1893, the parish had over 1600 members, served by priest Evgeny Mikhailovich Alexandrov, deacon Georgy Alferov, and psalmist I.N. Sklobovsky.

The church owned 148 desyatinas of land. Interesting are the memories of Andrey Nikolaevich Govorov, whose father worked on the construction for 30 years. Govorov's granddaughter, A.P. Sumtsova, recorded that the construction was overseen by first guild merchant Pekharev and his son, who made the first significant contributions. They were followed by other notable figures: Butov, Belousov, Gaidukov, and others. All funds were directed to Pekharev.

At that time, there was no cement, and the mortar for the masonry was prepared from lime, water, sand, and egg whites. Eggs were collected from the villages, the whites went into the mortar, while the yolks were used for baking. The church was built over 30 years, and its decoration was richly adorned. Above the entrance was a portrait of Pekharev with his son. After his death, he was buried in the churchyard, where a chapel was built over his grave.

After 1917, the church was closed and looted. During the Soviet era, it was used as a grain storage, which saved it from destruction. In the 1930s, children found grain in the church, which helped them survive. During the war, machine guns were placed in the bell tower, and one of the shells damaged part of the building. Later, everything was restored, but a crack remained as a reminder of the war. Services resumed during the 'Stalinist thaw', but only in the central part. The narthex was used as a warehouse, where a fire occurred in the 1980s.

Now the church building has been returned to the believers, restoration work is underway, and services are held regularly.
