In the second half of the 19th century, the residents of Paniki decided to build a new brick church with a bell tower. They invited craftsmen from other places to lead the construction, and the whole village actively helped. The hill for the church was manually piled up, and a brick factory was built in the neighboring Syrokino Yar. Milk and eggs for the mortar were collected throughout the village. All work was done by hand, and the construction took a long time. After completion, the church was painted, and it was consecrated only in the 1890s.

According to the "Reference Book on Churches, Parishes, and Clergy of the Kursk Diocese for 1908," there is a Mother of God church in the village of Paniki, built of stone in 1877. It has two altars, and the parish consists of 1,481 Orthodox believers and 3 schismatics. A church parish school operated at the church. The priest was Vladimir Matveevich Popov, the deacon was Nikolai Petrovich Solntsev, and the psalmist was Grigory Romanovich Puzanov. The church owned 1.8 desyatinas of homestead land and 34 desyatinas of arable land.

After the adoption of the 1918 decree "On the Separation of Church from State and School from Church," mass closures of churches began, along with the confiscation of church property and arrests of priests. As a result, the church in the village of Paniki was closed.

Currently, the church is being restored, and services have resumed.
