In the Record Book of "Residential Data of Churches" of the Sevsk district in the Komaritskaya volost of the Chemlyzhsky stan, the church dedicated to the Archangel Michael has been mentioned since 1628. In the early 18th century, the building fell into disrepair and was rebuilt, but in 1719 the church burned down. As a result of the fire, holy icons, church utensils, and the Holy Antimension were lost. The following year, a new wooden church was erected on the same site.

The existing wooden church was built in 1779 with funds from the parishioners and has not undergone any reconstructions or renovations since then. In 1898, a major renovation was carried out in the church, updating the icons and painting the interior walls. Among the particularly venerated icons was the image of the Mother of God of Sorrows, before which prayers were often held at the request of parishioners and residents of nearby villages.

In the 20th century, despite the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, the church remained open.
