Until the second half of the 19th century, the village of Zuevka was part of the parish of the Nicholas Church in the village of Nikolskoye, Timsky district, 3rd Deanery, which became part of the Sontsovsky district in 1928. In 1878, a stone single-altar church was built in Zuevka, although the parish was established back in 1853. Initially, the church was consecrated in honor of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica. Later, after the destruction of the church in Nikolskoye, all its property was transferred to the Zuev Church. According to local elders, even the church clergy, including the regent Alexei Matveevich Bobnev, moved to serve in Zuevka. Subsequently, the church was reconsecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

In 1937, the Nicholas Church in Zuevka was listed as active, however, archival documents indicate the return of keys to the church council, which may suggest a temporary closure of the church. The reasons for this are not specified in the archives. The church was repeatedly attempted to be closed and repurposed for economic needs, but parishioners, despite all difficulties, managed to defend it, sending letters to Moscow and praying for the preservation of the church.

Until 1940, grain was stored in the church building. The Great Patriotic War caused significant damage to the church: church utensils and icons were looted, and frescoes were damaged. Residents took shelter in the church from bombings. According to memories, the Germans attempted to blow up the church, but Soviet soldiers managed to save it and the people. Services resumed in 1943, and in 1944, a religious community was registered. Thanks to the efforts of the rector, Archpriest Vasily Chernikov, and the parishioners, the church gradually restored. In 1948, under Archpriest Afanasy Miroshnikov, partial repairs were carried out.

Archival data on the clergy of the Zuev Church is scarce, but it is known that they were held in high regard. Among them were priest Evgeny Psarev, deacon Theodor Ovsyannikov, priests Vaniфатий Postnikov and Mikhail Diakonov, igumen Arefa, hieromonk Mark, priest Georgy Shekhovskoy, archpriests Ieremiy Trofimenko, Mikhail Sergeev, Alexei Boyev, Isidor Kachalkin, Pavel Tarasov, and Flegont Romanov.

On June 1, 1992, the restoration of the Nicholas Church in Zuevka began. At that time, it was in a semi-ruined state: the iconostasis, floors, analogs, church utensils were missing, the walls had fallen plaster, the roof leaked, there was no heating or other necessary buildings.

On December 24, 2004, seven bells made in Voronezh were consecrated and raised to the bell tower with donated funds.

In February 2008, the district authorities and employees of OJSC "Kurskenergo" installed powerful lamps for night lighting of the church, which gave it special beauty and solemnity.

On June 9, 2009, an important event took place in Zuevka: the consecration and raising of new domes for the Nicholas Church, which was significant not only for the village but for the entire Sontsovsky district and the Kursk region.
