Kohanovo is first mentioned in 1629 as a village that was part of the Patsynskaya volost of the Bryansk district. At that time, this place belonged to the Borodovitsyn family, who built the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker here between 1728 and 1731. On the General Staff map of the Red Army No. 36-G, the church (on the site of the remaining ruins) and, presumably, a cemetery chapel near the local cemetery are marked in Kohanovo. Since 1994, the village has had no permanent residents and was removed from the records in 2001.
