The St. Nicholas Church in the village of Sorokino has a cross shape and is entirely made of wood. It is recognized as an architectural monument and is under state protection.

In 1905, the St. Nicholas Church was founded in the village of Sorokino, Biryuchensky District, Voronezh Province, preserving ancient traditions of wooden architecture in its design.

In 1938, the crosses were removed from the domes of the Nicholas Church, the bells were broken, and the building was used as a grain storage facility. Activists and collective farmers participated in the church's destruction. For many years, parishioners had to attend churches in neighboring villages, Streletskoye or Podserednee, which were quite far away.

The church was restored in 1990 at the initiative of the priest Alexander Perekrestov from Novoslobodskoye, who became the first priest in the renovated church. The villagers actively helped with the repairs: wooden logs were covered with boards, and painters made their own paint. However, despite all efforts, the restored church differed from the original.

Only in 1999 did the general director of the agricultural production cooperative 'Biryuchensky', V.E. Milyaev, find a photograph of the church in its original form while visiting the Voronezh archive. Thanks to his initiative, restoration began, and now the church appears in its pre-revolutionary appearance. The church is recognized as an architectural monument and is protected by the state.
