In 1809, a stone Nicholas church was built in the village of Rechitsa instead of a wooden one, thanks to the efforts of the local landowner Pelageya Dionisievna Tyutcheva and her son Ivan Nikolaevich Tyutchev. The church had three altars: the main one dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the southern one in honor of the Kazan Mother of God icon, and the northern one in the name of the Holy Martyr Pelageya. In 1896, a fourth warm chapel was added in the name of St. Andrew of Crete, in memory of the miraculous salvation of the Imperial family on October 17, 1888; its construction was financed by the church parish council. A carved canopy with a crucifix on top was installed in the main iconostasis.

Parishioners especially venerated the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the icon of the Kazan Mother of God. The bell tower was originally located under the columns on the western side of the church, but in 1890, a brick bell tower was added to the church with the funds from the parishioners. By the beginning of the 20th century, the parish of the village also included the villages of Dorogishnya and Molotino.
