The first mentions of the village of Koni appear in the watch book of 1608. At that time, it was called Norovskaya and had six peasant households, three of which were empty due to the death of the residents. One of the household owners died in 1600, indicating the existence of the village as early as the late 16th century. A rapid population growth occurred in the 18th century: from seven households in 1719 to 38 households with 232 residents in 1784. By the end of the 18th century, there was a need to build a chapel, as it was inconvenient to reach the village of Turya due to the forest road and two rivers.

There are no exact archival data on the date of construction of the Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Architect Tarasenko, who studied the site in 1971, attributed the construction to the mid-19th century. According to local residents' memories, the chapel originally stood in the center of the village of Koni but was moved to a high bank at the end of the village before the construction of a wooden church in 1903. In the early 20th century, the chapel was reconstructed: a refectory and a bell tower were added. Due to the erosion of the bank, the chapel was relocated to the village cemetery. The main relic of the iconostasis was the cross from the dome of the burned church.

The Nikolayevsky church, a characteristic example of rural wooden architecture of the 19th century, is located in the center of the cemetery, about 450 meters southwest of its original location. The plan of the chapel is symmetrical along the east-west axis; the square part is adjacent to the refectory with the bell tower, and to it, a porch. The chapel and refectory have a high undercroft.

The main volume is covered with a four-pitched roof with an octagonal dome. The church is topped with a light drum with a dome and an onion-shaped head, covered with galvanized iron. The roof over the refectory is gabled, while over the western part, the bell tower is of the type eight on four. Eight columns support the roof of the bell tower with an octagonal dome and a spire topped with a cross. The porch has a half-hipped roof.

There are three window openings in the southern and northern walls of the church, two in the refectory on the southern wall and one on the northern wall. Frame fillings have been preserved on three windows. A wide staircase leads to the chapel. The interior is covered with an eight-section vault. The rooms are connected by a door opening with a massive door. The floors are made of solid boards. In the refectory, there is a vestibule with a staircase leading to the bell tower. The chapel is hewn from pine logs and clad with wooden planks. The foundation is made of boulders, and the dimensions of the building are 16.2 by 7.8 meters. In the 1970s, the dome and spire were clad in iron. In the early 21st century, the cross fell, and in 2003-2004, the roof and ceiling over the refectory collapsed, and the iconostasis was lost.
