The first mention of the village of Ivanovskaya Lisitsa dates back to 1692. Among the first residents were Anafrey Gordeev, Ivan Zolotukhin, Kirey Perov, and Ivan Izvekov. In the early 18th century, the village came under the ownership of Field Marshal B.P. Sheremetev. Documents from 1756 mention fortifications in Ivanovskaya Lisitsa. In 1843, following the example of the sloboda of Alekseevka (now the city of Alekseevka), also owned by the Sheremetevs, sunflower cultivation and sunflower oil production began here.

In 1870, a wooden church dedicated to John the Baptist was built in the village, and in 1903, a stone one was constructed. By the early 20th century, the parish had 997 parishioners. Two schools operated at the church: a zemstvo school and a church-parish school, and 34 desyatinas of land were allocated.

During the Soviet era, the church was closed and suffered significant damage. The building was used as a school. During World War II, when the village was occupied, the Germans restored the church and held services there. After the war, the building was once again used as a school.

The church was restored in 1995.
