The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in the village of Dolgie Budy was built of stone by local craftsmen according to the design of foreign architects over 17 years and completed in 1897, when the crosses and bells were installed.

The first mention of the church in the settlement of Dolgie Budy dates back to 1782, when priest Grigory Pavlovich Dosichev of the Znamenskaya church is mentioned in the census. The exact date of the construction of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church is unknown, but the metric books of the Znamenskaya church for 1844 and the Bogorodichnaya for 1876 suggest that it was erected during this period.

The directory of churches in the Kursk diocese for 1890 lists the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church in the village of Dolgie Budy, where 833 men and 802 women lived. By 1903, the village had 277 peasant and 3 non-peasant households with a population of 955 men and 951 women.

In 1897, a three-altar stone church was built, which owned 1 desyatina of homestead land, 30 desyatinas of arable land, and 2 desyatinas of haymaking land. A zemstvo school operated in the parish, and from 1890 to 1908, the priest was Mikhail Nikolaevichzolotarev.

After the decree on the separation of church from state was adopted in 1918, the church continued to function based on an agreement with the district executive committee. In 1922, 11 items weighing a total of 10 pounds and 76 zolotniks were removed from the church. From 1932, the building was used as a grain storage facility, but until 1937 it was still listed as active.

Data on the closure of the church in the pre-war years is absent. During the Great Patriotic War, from May 22, 1943, the religious community resumed activities and petitioned for registration. In 1946, an agreement was signed to transfer the church building to the religious society. From 1951 to 1953, the building was again used as a grain storage facility, but later the church became active again.

In the late 1960s, services ceased. In 1972, it was reported that no one had applied for the resumption of services in the past six years, and the Orthodox religious society was deregistered. The church building was transferred to the district executive committee.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the church was not listed among the active ones. In 1990, the Orthodox parish of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church of the Kursk diocese was registered. In 1997, the religious organization of the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was registered. In 1998, the church was recognized as a regional architectural monument.
