The residents of Bogorodsk cannot precisely explain why they celebrate Ilyin Day. Although the church in the village is dedicated to the Nativity of Christ and was built by the entire village over 14 years, it was consecrated in 1849. Before the current stone church, there was a wooden Bogoroditsky church. However, on August 2, the day of the Prophet Elijah, the residents walk around the village, and this day is considered Village Day, as the church elder Tatyana Fyodorovna Rasova recounts.

The name "Bogorodsk" was given to the village after the construction of the stone church, and before that, it was called Vishera, after the river. Tatyana Fyodorovna shares legends about the church's construction. First, a chapel was built here, followed by a wooden church. Later, the miraculous Vishera icon of the Mother of God appeared, which, according to legend, was brought by an old man in a boat. The boat was sailing against the current, and when people approached, the old man was gone, but the icon remained in the boat. It was taken to the chapel, but it returned three times to the place where the stone church now stands. Then it was decided to build a stone church on this site, which was called "the healing place for souls."

The legends about the appearance of the icon changed over time. In 1847, the local historian Andrey Popov described his pilgrimage to the shrine and recounted that an old man, "as white as snow," was dragging the boat along the shore with a rope. This was Stephen of Perm, who appeared after his death. Before the appearance of the icon, there was no church in the village, and the Christian faith was just beginning to spread among the residents. The icon was kept in a specially prepared place, and later a wooden church was built in its honor. The icon healed diseases and protected the villages, attracting pilgrims from all over the Komi region.

The church's bell tower had 9 bells, the largest weighing 16 poods. In 1937, the church was closed, the bell tower was blown up, the bells were destroyed, and church utensils were taken away. Some icons were preserved by the parishioners and are now being returned to the church. For a long time, a club operated in the church, and there was a boiler room in the altar, which was closed in 2003.

In 2004, the church was handed over to the believers, and its restoration began. The community in the village appeared in the late 90s, and on July 13, 2004, the church was officially returned to the church. Now the church is surrounded by scaffolding, and of all the church buildings, only the zemstvo school building has survived. The lower church, where services are held, is very small, it used to be a cinema booth. The main part of the church is comparable in size to the modern cathedral of Stephen of Perm in Syktyvkar.

Among the attractions of the old church was a beautiful iconostasis painted by the master Falaley, the father of the Komi philosopher Kalistrat Jakov. However, it has been almost completely destroyed. It is necessary to install a new iconostasis, a dome with a cross, and restore the bell tower.
