The gate church, dedicated to Saints Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves, was built at the entrance to the caves from 1997 to 1999. It is designed in the style of Pskov-Novgorod architecture and represents a single-domed, single-apsidal quadrilateral with a hipped roof finish.

In 1996, on the territory of the ancient Holkov Monastery, three cornerstone stones for the construction of two churches and a chapel were consecrated by Bishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, who is now an archbishop.

Initially, the gate church in honor of Saints Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves was erected at the entrance to the caves, followed by the construction of the Vladimir Chapel.

In December 1999, Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the monastery church dedicated to the Don Icon of the Mother of God. At a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church held on December 28, 1999, the opening of the Holy Trinity Holkov Male Monastery was blessed.
