Фото 1
The old Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in the village of Podolkhah, which has not survived to this day, was built over 15 years and consecrated in 1895. It was located on the grounds of an old cemetery. The church had three altars, with one large dome, was made of brick, surrounded by a brick wall, and adorned with an iron fence. The bell tower was part of the church. With the advent of Soviet power, the church was closed, and the building was used as a grain storage facility.

During the Great Patriotic War, the building was occupied by the Germans. In the summer of 1943, it housed evacuation hospital No. 2329. In 1951, part of the building was dismantled for the needs of the collective farm, and in 1955, the church was blown up.

A new church was established in the former school building, which was redesigned for worship. The reconstruction was carried out by L.I. Kolesnikova, the chief architect of the Belgorod diocese. In December 2006, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol.
