In 1993, under the guidance of the clergy of the Ostrogozhskoye Deanery of the Voronezh Diocese, work began to clear the caves. Four years later, in 1997, the Spassky Women's Diocesan Monastery was officially opened. Now, on its territory, cave churches have been restored where services are held, and an above-ground church of the Mother of God 'The Seeking of the Lost' has been built, along with residential and utility buildings.

The only above-ground church of the monastery was erected in 2000 and consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'The Seeking of the Lost'. This single-domed building has a refectory where services are held in winter. During pilgrimages, one can order services here, such as molebens, forty-day memorials, panikhidas, and the unceasing Psalter.

This church houses the miraculous 'Kostomarov' icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, transferred here from the cave Spassky church. It was painted to human height on a sheet of iron by Vasily Shokorev in the late 19th to early 20th century. The icon bears the marks of six bullets fired by Red Army soldiers.
