The stone building of the Epiphany Church began construction in 1735 with funds from parishioners. By spring 1739, the construction was completed, and in September of the same year, the main altar was consecrated in honor of the Epiphany of the Lord.

In 1746, a second altar was consecrated in honor of St. Athanasius of Alexandria. Over time, the church became a three-altar church: in addition to the two existing altars, an altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" was added on the northern side. The appearance of additional altars was associated with an increase in the number of parishioners, among whom were workers from the linen factories of the merchant houses of Chernov, Torubaev, and Bilibin.

In 1742, the construction of a stone bell tower began to replace the old, dilapidated one, and it was completed in 1744. In 1845, a porch was added to the church, and in 1849, the refectory was expanded, with an altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" arranged in it.

The church was closed in 1934, and the metal structures that reinforced the building from the inside were cut down. In 1991, authorities conducted repairs, determining that the church had suffered 80% wear, with the frescoes preserved only in fragments, and the bell tower was in an emergency state. Until the end of 2016, one of the divisions of the Kaluga region archive was located in the building of the Epiphany Church.

In 2017, the liturgical life of the church was revived. On the day of the Epiphany of the Lord, the first moleben and the Great Blessing of Water took place. By the blessing of Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, on August 5 of the same year, Bishop Seraphim of Tarusa, vicar of the Kaluga Diocese, performed the minor consecration of the Epiphany Church with the altar in honor of Athanasius of Alexandria. Priest Maxim Konovalov, a cleric of the Kaluga Diocese, was appointed as the rector of the church.
