The former urban estate, a monument of history and culture from the 18th and 19th centuries, originally belonged to merchant S. Ivanov. It included the main house, a two-story stone wing, and service buildings in the courtyard. In 1782, the main house was rebuilt and is referred to in documents of that time as "the stone building with an entrance to the cellars." However, thirty years after the fire set by Napoleon's soldiers, only the "shell" of the house remained. In 1817, a merchant named F. Velikoplova, the new owner, restored the estate. The main building was reconstructed in the style of mature classicism, and a wooden mezzanine was added. Instead of the burned wooden structures, stone stables, storerooms, and sheds were built.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, new owners, Moscow merchants Makhovs, partially remodeled the first floor of the main house for commercial purposes. After the revolution, communal apartments appeared here, and various institutions were located in the service buildings.

In the 1970s and 1980s, first the main house and then the entire estate came under the management of the Main Department for the Protection of Monuments of the City of Moscow, which not only moved here but also carried out a comprehensive renovation and restoration work.

The story of the white stone lions currently located in the courtyard at the entrance to the building is interesting. These sculptures once adorned the gates of the cultural heritage site "The Chambers (House of Anna Mons), 17th century" on Baumanskaya Street. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, during the construction of the NII of Precision Instruments building, the gates of Anna Mons' house were dismantled, and the lion sculptures were removed.

According to the former director of the factory, the lions lay for a long time in a warehouse outdoors among construction materials, and the wooden boxes they were in rotted. At his initiative, the sculptures were handed over to the Main Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Moscow. Since the 1990s, they have been placed on the territory of the 19th-century Urban Estate in the courtyard at 19 Pyatnitskaya Street.

Currently, the building houses the Department of Cultural Heritage of the City of Moscow.
