In the historic district of Zamoskvorechye in Moscow, there are two Kadashyevsky lanes, whose names recall the former Kadashyevskaya sloboda that existed here. The first documentary mentions of this place date back to the early 16th century. In the spiritual charter of Grand Duke Ivan III, the village of Kadashëvo is mentioned, located between the road to Serpukhov and the Ordynskaya road. The origin of the name is still a matter of debate. It is possible that in the 16th century, barrels and casks were made here, or the name is related to the Turkic word 'kadas', meaning 'comrade'. In the 17th century, when documentary evidence of the sloboda appeared, it was a hamovaya sloboda, meaning associated with the production of linen cloth. Women primarily participated in weaving, while men engaged in trade. The sloboda was prosperous and enjoyed privileges under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Stone houses began to be built here as early as the 17th century. Despite the loss of privileges and the abolition of sloboda divisions after Peter I's reforms, wealth persisted.

Stone construction continued in the following centuries, and today, Kadashi has preserved its historical architecture better than other districts of Moscow. In the 1800s, a two-story stone house was built in the current 2nd Kadashyevsky lane, which was also called Perepyolkina Street and Middle Kadashyevsky Lane, as part of the estate of merchant A. Tikhonov. Thirty years later, it was partially reconstructed. The owner was likely a serious and frugal person, not spending much on decorating the house: the decor was minimal, with window trim on the second floor, modest rustication at the corners, and two fluted pilasters. It was a solid merchant mansion built to last. The neighboring houses in the lane also did not feature excessive decoration.

In the late 20th century, the old mansion underwent some changes. Today, A. Tikhonov's urban estate is protected by the state as a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
