The Glushkovsky Local History Museum was founded at the initiative of the district culture department thanks to the efforts of history teacher V. L. Vasilenko, local historian A. N. Kramarenko, and artist V. V. Chaus. For a long time, the museum was headed by A. N. Kramarenko, who held this position until 1999.

The museum is located in a building that is a monument of architecture from the late 19th to early 20th century. It belonged to the famous dynasty of industrialists Tereshchenko, in particular, to Semyon Artemyevich and Nikolai Semyonovich. In 1992, the museum was awarded the title of "People's Museum," and since 2002 it has been a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum.

The museum's collections include over 5,000 exhibits, and its exhibition area is 74 square meters. The exhibition, located in four halls, covers the history of the Glushkovsky region from the mid-17th century to the present day.

In the 19th century, the activities of the Tereshchenko family of sugar producers had a significant impact on the history of the region. They were representatives of a new generation, enterprising and talented managers. Their estates in Tetkinsky and Glushkovsky were distinguished by a high level of organization in beet sugar production, the use of new farming methods, the maintenance of purebred livestock, as well as the cultivation of gardens and parks.

The museum attracts about 8,000 visitors annually.
