The alley "Birch Perspective," located behind the Middle Palace, ends with the Figured Gates, which were built by V.I. Bazhenov in 1777-1778. These gates mark the conditional boundary between the palace and park areas of the ensemble in Tsaritsyno.

The name of the gates is associated with their unusual shapes and decor. Since ancient times, they have also been called "Grape" due to the white stone pattern inside the pointed arch, resembling a bunch of grapes. In the early 19th century, the gates were adorned with four white stone vases, two statues of cupids, and two ceramic sculptures of pugs.

The Figured Gates are a true symbol of Bazhenov's creativity. Like the Figured Bridge, they resemble a triumphal arch. It is immediately clear that their main task is to delight with their beauty against the backdrop of park trees and neighboring palace buildings.

Together with the Middle and Small Palaces, the Figured Gates form a "trio" in the style of "delicate Gothic," as Bazhenov himself called his original style. Similar visual ensembles can also be found in other parts of the Tsaritsyno palace complex.
