The Engels Picture Gallery is a branch of the Saratov State Art Museum named after A. N. Radishchev. It is located in a complex of buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which belonged to Nikolai Alekseevich Ukhin, an entrepreneur and philanthropist who was an honorary citizen of the city of Pokrovsk (now Engels). Ukhin was also the grandfather of the People's Artist of the USSR and Vice-President of the Academy of Arts A. A. Mylnikov. It was at Mylnikov's initiative that in 1985, the year of the centenary of the Radishchev Museum, discussions began on the creation of a picture gallery. In 1998, the gallery was established as a structural division of the Engels Local History Museum. The foundation of its collection consists of paintings and graphic works by A. A. Mylnikov, which he donated to the gallery.
