Palace in Taininskoye

Historians still cannot determine exactly when the way palace appeared in the village of Taininskoye near Moscow. It is known that Ivan IV stopped here on his way from Moscow to Alexandrovskaya Sloboda. The first mentions of palace buildings date back to the 15th century.

Under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, the palace became a hunting residence, where a falconry yard and a kennel were built. In 1675, the Church of the Annunciation was laid next to the palace, which has survived to this day.

During the time of Elizabeth Petrovna, a new way palace was built next to the church. It was located on an artificial island formed by damming the Sukromka and Yauza rivers. A garden was laid out around the palace. Catherine II often visited this place, celebrating her birthdays or simply resting here.

In 1779, the palace was handed over to the builder of the Mytishchi-Moscow water supply, F. V. Bauer. It was from the Taininskoye palace that the construction of the first water supply in Russia was managed.

Then, for almost 30 years, the palace was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin. In the early 19th century, architect I. Michurin made a detailed description of the palace, including a list of rooms and a drawing of the facade. The complex included the Church of the Annunciation, the cavalier's quarters, kitchen, cellars, bridges, guardhouse, gardens, ponds, and a mill. In 1823, the wooden palace burned down for unknown reasons. Later, country houses were built in its place, which existed until the 20th century.

To this day, only the foundation of the palace remains, discovered during excavations in 2005. In 1996, a monument to Nicholas II was installed nearby, which was soon destroyed by a left-extremist organization but was later restored and reopened in 2000.

Today, plans are being considered for the reconstruction of the way palace. A museum-architectural complex is planned to be created, which will become a new cultural center of the Moscow region.
