In the early 17th century, a stone two-story church with five domes was built in the monastery, dedicated to the Epiphany of the Lord. The exact dates of its construction are unknown, but a report from 1905 states that it occurred in 1615. The church had an altar in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and its wall paintings and iconostasis were completed in 1849.

In 1699, a fire destroyed all the wooden structures of the monastery. In the early 18th century, with the blessing of the Metropolitans of Rostov, Joasaph Lazarevich and Dmitry Tuptalo, new buildings were erected on the site of the burned churches.

In 1918, the Soviet government officially closed the monastery; however, the monastic community continued its activities. The final closure occurred around 1928, when the brotherhood faced repression, and a state farm was established on the monastery's territory.

In the 1990s, the remaining buildings of the monastery were returned to the Church. By 2000, the partially ruined Uspensky church, bell tower, refectory, and abbot's buildings, as well as a stable, had survived. The monastery remained the only architectural monument of the 18th and 19th centuries in the Poshyokhon district.

According to the decision of the Holy Synod on March 7, 2000, the monastery was reopened, but as a women's monastery. Services were held in the vestibule of the Epiphany church. In the autumn of 2006, by the decision of the Holy Synod, the monastery became a men's monastery again.
