In Volgograd, among the monuments of historical and cultural heritage, several buildings stand out, the condition of which raises serious concern. One such house is the building at Kliniskaya 39, built in the late 19th century. During the Soviet era, it housed a Voentorg base.

Kliniskaya Street used to be quite wide and ran parallel to Rabochaya-Krestyanskaya Street (known before the revolution as Knyagininskaya), stretching from the floodplain of Tsaritsa to Sennaya Square, which is now located in the area of Barrikadnaya Street. As a result of the city's reconstruction in the 50s and 60s, Kliniskaya Street disappeared; its territory was built up with houses from the era of 'Khrushchyovkas', and the cohesive roadway of the street ceased to exist. Only a few houses with pre-war addresses remain, including the numbering, which are now located in the courtyards of later residential complexes and are not connected to each other.

The house at Kliniskaya 39 is a vivid monument of its era. This one-story building is adorned with beautiful brick carvings and possesses unique features not found anywhere else in the city. Previously, there was a basement, which due to the loss of ceilings has now 'merged' with the first floor.

These ruins are not ancient. Until the 90s, the house was used, as was the neighboring 39a, where people lived. The building fell into a deplorable state during the 90s and the 'noughties' when it was abandoned. During this time, Kliniskaya 39 lost its roof and part of its internal walls. Nevertheless, despite its horrifying condition, the house can still be restored.
