The formation of the funds of the branch "House-Museum of People's Artist of the USSR V.A. Igoshchev" began in 2001 with the transfer of paintings, graphics, and decorative-applied arts from the personal collection of Vladimir Alexandrovich Igoshchev, People's Artist of the USSR (1921-2007).

Since 2004, after the All-Russian Festival "Russia-Art-Yugra" was held at the museum, the collection of works dedicated to the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra began to be assembled. The replenishment of the funds with paintings, graphics, and photo documents occurred through the Administration of the Governor of KhMAO-Yugra, ROSIZO, the Russian Cultural Fund, and private collections from Moscow.

The branch has developed and actively applies mechanisms for the gratuitous transfer of cultural values to the museum fund: organizing exhibitions of regional artists with subsequent transfer of their works to the museum, appeals to various organizations for the transfer of individual works and collections, as well as contacts with private collectors from the circle of V.A. Igoshchev.

The branch houses 1,339 museum storage units: 1,128 from the main fund and 211 from the scientific auxiliary fund.

The collection of paintings by V.A. Igoshchev includes 107 storage units, of which 94 are paintings and 13 are graphics. Chronologically, it covers the period from 1948 to 1990, allowing for the tracing of the artist's style evolution. Thematically, the collection is divided into three blocks: works from the Northern cycle dedicated to the life of the indigenous population of the Khanty-Mansi Okrug, paintings created during travels across Russia and abroad, and family portraits.

The core of the collection of graphics by Russian artists of the 20th century consists of 17 works by Soviet authors, donated to the museum by V.A. Igoshchev. In 2004-2005, the museum's funds were replenished with engravings by Moscow artist Myuda Mechev, dedicated to the Karelian-Finnish epic "Kalevala." Four graphic sheets with portraits of Pushkin, Gogol, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy, created by People's Artist of the USSR Vitaly Goryaev, were gifted to the museum by his son, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Goryaev. As part of the "Gifts and Donors" program of the Russian Cultural Fund, the museum received 30 works from Moscow artist Nikolai Shishlovsky. In 2009, as part of this program, a collection from the "Museum of Contemporary Art" was transferred, including 537 works.

The collection of decorative-applied arts and household items is part of an extensive private collection formed as a result of numerous trips by Vladimir Igoshchev across Russia and abroad. This collection is diverse both geographically and chronologically, combining works of high artistic value with items of memorial significance. The collection allows for the exploration of different facets of the artist's personality and provides insight into his tastes and preferences.
