In the nineteenth century, the rapid improvement of living standards in the Russian Empire reached the provinces, where new mansions in Western European style began to appear. Bezhetsk was no exception to this fashionable trend, and even among the few buildings in the city, one could notice the influence of the times. More than a hundred years have passed, but even today one can see beautiful examples of this phenomenon. One of the most beautiful and interesting buildings in Bezhetsk is the house of the Nevorotins, built in the first half of the 19th century by order of the wealthy merchant Terenty Starobogatov. In the middle of the same century, the building was sold for a significant sum to the hereditary honorary citizen of Bezhetsk, Alexander Vasilyevich Nevorotin.

It should be noted that today the house looks somewhat different than in its early years, but it still retains its pre-revolutionary appearance. In the early twentieth century, merchant Nikolai Nikolaevich Nevorotin, the grandson of Alexander Vasilyevich, remodeled the mansion, inviting a talented architect from Moscow, whose name is unfortunately unknown today.

The building combines elements of Baroque and Classicism, and its final appearance reflects the fashionable trend of eclecticism. Notably, at that time, the mansion had its own small power station, plumbing, and sewage system. The owners took special pride in the exterior of the house with its grand entrance adorned with columns and figures of Atlantes. The facade of the building features an Ionic portico and is topped with a decorative attic with a window. At the upper part of the facade are figures of Fortune and Hermes with a shield depicting the owner's monogram. The side of the mansion and the southern facade are also impressive with balconies and numerous architectural elements, some of which, unfortunately, have been lost.

Before the revolution, the last owner of the mansion was the State Bank, which acquired the building from the grain trader Nikolai Matveevich Bashkitov, who had purchased it from the previous owners.
