Mikhail Lermontov was deeply in love with Varvara Lopukhina, but he also addressed his romantic letters to Anna Stolypina. This girl lived in house number 55 on the street now known as Kirov Street, but unfortunately, the building has not survived. Lermontov's feelings for Anna, a slender noblewoman, arose when he was only 15 years old, while she was already 23.

Lermontov dedicated the poem "Do Not Attract Me with Your Beauty" to Anna, in which he wrote: "My spirit has faded and aged, Ah! many years have passed since another gaze has imprinted itself in my mind!" However, Anna Grigorievna did not reciprocate the young poet's feelings. Lermontov suffered greatly from unrequited love and often thought of her. In his diary, he mentioned: "Once I stole a blue beaded cord from her, how I cherish it... bury me under that dry tree where I sat with Anna. I loved beneath it and heard the magical 'I love you' that shook every vein of my heart with convulsive movement." Even during his studies in St. Petersburg, Lermontov did not forget his beloved. His infatuation with Anna Stolypina left a significant mark on his work. However, Anna Grigorievna preferred a wealthier suitor and married the adjutant of Prince Mikhail Pavlovich Romanov.
