One of the most popular attractions in Feodosia is the villa of Joseph Stamboli, a Russian merchant of Karaim descent. Stamboli was not only a successful entrepreneur but also a well-known philanthropist who spared no expense in building his villa. The building's design was developed by the Petersburg architect Oskar Wegener, who was quite popular at the time. Construction began in 1909 and lasted five years, but the result justified the efforts and costs, amounting to 1 million 100 thousand rubles.

The villa was built in a rare Spanish-Moorish style for Russia, which was combined with fashionable eclecticism. Although Stamboli himself did not name his house, people began to refer to it by the owner's surname. The surname Stamboli, which translates from Karaim as 'one who came from Istanbul,' was given to the owner's grandfather. The mansion is located in a prestigious pre-revolutionary area of the city, and its details were carefully thought out. Unlike many other buildings, the interiors of the villa have been preserved to this day.

Stamboli lived in the new house for only three years, after which he was forced to leave the country to save his family. He settled in France, and his property was confiscated and passed to the Bolsheviks. The villa was initially occupied by Chekists and later became a sanatorium, which operated until the arrival of the Germans and Romanians. During the German occupation, the building housed a hospital, and a cemetery for deceased soldiers was organized nearby. Search operations for the care of the graves of fallen soldiers are still ongoing here. Today, the mansion has been restored and is in good condition, having suffered little from the passage of time.
