Admiral Pribytkov's Dacha

Фото 1
The dacha of Viktor Ivanovich Pribytkov, known as "Admiral," is one of the rare buildings in the neo-Romantic style and is located in the village of Pribytkovo, near Gatchina, on Shkolnaya Street. The building was founded in 1900 and attracts attention with its asymmetrical architecture. The facades are adorned with windows of various shapes, each framed with wooden moldings depicting dragons, squirrels, birds, and tree branches. On the side of the house is a veranda with stained glass depicting marine and mountain landscapes. There is a legend that these stained glass windows were created based on sketches by Vrubel, although there is no documentary evidence to support this, which does not diminish their artistic value. The name of the building's architect remains unknown.

Viktor Ivanovich Pribytkov, a retired captain of the second rank, earned the nickname "Admiral" among the locals. He actively promoted the development of spiritualism in St. Petersburg and Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Rebus," dedicated to spiritualism and mediumship, Viktor Ivanovich held numerous sessions at his dacha, attended by both his relatives and representatives of the St. Petersburg elite. He passed away during one of these sessions.

In 1903, the dacha was purchased by Heinrich Ottovich Burman, the owner of a capital iron foundry. According to local residents, he gifted this magnificent mansion to his beloved, a St. Petersburg actress named Irina, about whom little is known so far. She lived here in the summer and often hosted guests from the theatrical and musical world, as well as notable neighbors. It is said that the famous performer of Russian romances, Anastasia Vialtseva, visited here. The oldest resident of the village of Pribytkovo, Faddey Marcelinovich Kozlovsky, recalled that before the revolution, a metal plaque with the inscription "Irina's Dacha" hung on the gate of the estate.
