The village of Khotenskoe is located 13 versts from the city of Vladimir. In the early 17th century, it was part of the estate of the Vladimir Spassky Zolotovorotsky Monastery and remained under its ownership until the abolition of monastic estates. In the first half of the 17th century, according to the patriarchal land books, there was a church of the Ascension of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ in the village, the fate of which was likely wooden, but remains unknown.

The current stone church with a bell tower was built in 1836 with funds from the parishioners. It has two altars: in the cold church, in the name of the Ascension of the Lord, and in the warm one, in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. Church documents have been preserved in full: copies of the metric books since 1803 and confession lists since 1829.

The church has land: a homestead area of 624 square fathoms, arable land of 25 desyatins, and haymaking land of 15 desyatins. There are plans and boundary books for the land. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. The maintenance of the clergy is ensured by the requirements, bread collection, and land, amounting to about 530 rubles per year. Church houses have been built for the clergy, and for the priest, a house with outbuildings.

The parish includes the village of Khotenskoe and the village of Novoselki, located 5 versts from the church. The parish has 257 men and 302 women. Since 1883, the local priest has opened a church-parish school, where up to 30 students are educated.
