The Ascension Church was built thanks to the efforts of the pious merchant Evlampiy Feodorovich Komatovsky, whose grave is located behind the altar of the church. The following is known about its construction: the church was laid during the reign of Emperor Alexander Nikolayevich with the blessing of Archbishop Nil of Yaroslavl and Rostov. The project was overseen by Archpriest Ioann Popov, and the construction was carried out by the merchant Komatovsky himself. The laying took place on May 6, 1856, and the consecration occurred on November 1, 1859, conducted by Archpriest Grigory Shiryayev with the blessing of the same archbishop.

Architecturally, the church resembles the Moscow style. It has one dome, with an adjoining three-tiered bell tower. The first tier serves as a porch, the second was previously used as a sacristy, and the third, the belfry, where small bells are preserved. In the 1930s, a large bell was thrown down and shattered. Inside, the church features a spacious hall with a painted ceiling. The decor is dominated by a unique ornament, and on the ceiling of the refectory part, there is a depiction of the Ascension of the Lord. The walls have medallions depicting selected saints, and on the sails and the lower part of the drum, the four evangelists.

Currently, repair and restoration work is being carried out in the church and on its territory. With God's help, the Ascension Church is gradually regaining its former splendor.
