In the land books of the Murom district for the years 1628-1629, the churches of the Borisoglebsky Monastery are mentioned: "In the monastery, there is a wooden church of the holy princes Boris and Gleb on the underpinnings; a church in the name of the holy martyrs Flora and Lavra, also wooden." In the 17th century, two stone churches were built in the Borisoglebsky Monastery instead of these wooden ones: one in the name of the Ascension of the Lord with an altar dedicated to the holy martyrs Boris and Gleb, and the other in the name of the Nativity of Christ and the Kazan Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The exact years of their construction are unknown. In 1764, the monastery was abolished, and its churches became parish churches.

The Ascension Church is a stone structure with five domes, on which iron, pierced crosses are installed. The altar in the church consists of three parts, separated by arches, behind one of which there is an altar dedicated to the holy martyrs Boris and Gleb. The altar of this chapel is located in a niche of the wall. In 1827, a new iconostasis was installed in the Ascension Church, as the old one had fallen into disrepair.
